Objectives of the Project
Till date Sanskrit has been viewed only as ‘another’ language and not as a knowledge construction raw material. Probably very few attempts have been made to harvest the rich gamut of home grown Indian knowledge systems (IKS) that can be cross pollinated with the western perspectives. The recent development and promotion of IKS in NEP 2020 and other government policy decisions have made this kind of cross pollination possible which will ensure that both perspectives emerge better than their independent, individual fields, sitting in water tight locked up academic departments. This is an immediate necessity so as to harvest the best of both worlds and is an essential contribution to the world wide web connected global village/ University.
Therefore the major objectives of our IoE Research Project will be to
- To find out the relevant textual forms (aphorisms, verses, text authoring tools and techniques, maxims etc.) from the wide range of concepts such as Sūtra, Bhāṣya, Vārtika, Tantrayukti, Saṅgati, Anubandha Catuṣṭaya, Laukika Nyāya, Vādavidhi and Subhāṣitas that carry the knowledge capital and potential of writing better at tertiary levels, with a particular reference to chapterization in research writing and reader centeredness.
- To build a workable theoretical model on synopsis, chapterization, coherence, methods and types of argumentation that can be applied to research writing across various disciplines at the tertiary level so as to improve the written communication through careful and coherent organization.
- To apply the developed theoretical model to research writings available in the chosen disciplines and identify the areas where the writing could be improved.
- To arrive at pedagogical transactions/ modules/ courses that can be incorporated into the current research methodology courses from this developed framework.
- To host events and workshops on the findings so that the accessibility and readability of the Indian Research Methodology (IRM) is available to the global audience.
This area has a direct philosophical link to the NEP 2020 where interdisciplinary areas are explored for the knowledge capital to flow into a wide range of disciplines and so doubly viable to promote Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) to global arena.
